Robert M. Lambert, 95, of Fayette, died Friday, February 26, 2016, at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church in Fayette with Rev. Andy Sayer officiating.

Robert Matthew, son of George and Elsie Mae (Chittenden) Lambert, was born December 03, 1920, in Lima, Iowa. He received his education in the Fayette area schools, but left after one year of high school to help support his family by working for area farmers for fifty cents a day. He later received his GED in 1966. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was in Tokyo Bay when the war ended. On March 17, 1941, he was united in marriage with Dorothy Everett at the Fayette Methodist Parsonage. Bob farmed for most of his life in the Fayette area and was employed as a Kent Feed Dealer. While at Kent Feed he won many sales awards and was able to travel to many places such as, Hawaii, Switzerland and Germany. He was a long-time member of United Methodist Church in Fayette, Fayette American Legion Post #339, Big Rock Country Club and was an original investor and on the Board of Directors of the Maple Crest Manor Campus. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, and woodworking.

Bob is survived by his four children, Kathleen Cybela of Fayette, George (Amelia) Lambert of Kansas City, Missouri, Patricia (John) Szyjewski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Gary Lambert of Stanley, Iowa; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Doughty of Rockford, Illinois; brother-in-law, Albert Everett of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Lulabel Lambert of Hopkinton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and good friend, Helen.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Ronald, and Donald Lambert; and sister Agnes Cave.

At his request, his remains have been donated to the Deeded Body Program at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
